Word from the Mouth: Live from Limerick! edition

Word from the Mouth: Live from Limerick! edition

Here we are about to start the fall season and let's hope it will be as much fun as spring was. This season we have a lot of teams that are coming back, a few that took a season off, and even a few new teams that have been made. At least for fall season we won’t have to deal with the extreme heat. I won’t keep going because I have lots of teams to talk about.

Season Expectations

Division 1

Iron Wolves - This team is loaded, but might have to deal with player shortages throughout the season. 5-5 record

A-Team - If Dave is healthy and the team stays focused, they would be my favorite to win it all based off their roster. 8-2 record

Outlaws - They will be dealing with roster turnover and long time QB Steve out of the picture, they will struggle. 4-6 record

Lockdown - This is a new team to the league, but have played together before so they will be fine and might challenge for that number 1 seed. 7-3 record

Jagerbomb - This team has won in every division they have played in, but this year will be a bit different and a learning experience for them. 5-5 record

Centurions - This team is up and down every year, they are a good team, but they aren’t built the same way as the other D1 teams. 3-7 record

Division 2

Idaho Udapimp - This team is looking to get back to the title game but win this time and this roster might be able to do that. 8-2 record

KOLB - is back in Montreal and will be challenged more than they were last time when they won it all. They have a good core of players that if they all show up will be fine, but if they don’t, they might struggle in a few games. 6-4 record

Pocket Rockets - This team doesn’t have any real holes and if they stay focused and play smart football could be playing Idaho in the finals. 7-3 record

Thunder Buddies - I just don’t know who will be playing QB and that will cause concerns at least for me and for now. 5-5 record

Average Joes - They won it all in D3 last spring, but this time in D2 Jason will be facing much tougher defenses and they will struggle. 3-7 record

Nice TDs - With Vinny at QB it gives them stability and doesn’t leave question marks each week. 6-4 record

Division 3

Double Dippers - New QB, a few new players, a few old players, they will take time to gel and get on the same page. 6-4 record

Mustard Tigers - Loads of experience and a few solid players they will only go where Brian's play takes them.

Phoenix - Lots of new player and they will struggle the first few weeks until they get on same page.

Pocket Rockets - Might be the team to beat this season they are loaded. 8-2 record

RawSauce - This team is up and down each season and this season will be a down season for them. 3-7 record

Red Cats - Avery is the key here if he stays out of his own head they can win it all and make it look easy. 7-3 record

Villains - This team has talent everywhere and if they play seriously, they could dominate but they will be switching QBs part way through the season. 5-5 record

Division 4

Iron Wolves - This isn’t the same team that went to the finals last season, they lost a few players and that means Kris and Conner will need to do a lot more. 5-5 record

Bines Low Fat - These team does just enough to make the playoffs then they show up and play. 6-4 record

Cyclones - Hope Alex learnt a thing or two last season he will need it. They brought back a few players and add a few new players, but they will go where Alex leads them. 5-5 record

Drama Club - They have a decent core, but Simon will need to have a few players step up and help turn short gains into big ones. 4-6 record

Udaho Idapimp - Eric being back and healthy this season will be a huge advantage, but it might also stop Masson and all the progress he made last season. 8-2 record

Airborne - I think with Leo at QB they struggle early in the season, but late he figures it out and wins a few games. 3-7 record

High on Audibles - On paper this looks like an unstoppable force, and they will be if everyone shows up each week. Rob is too smart not to take advantage of the talent around him. 9-1 record

Jagys & Chill - This team should be just fine. JF is throwing, Simon is there to help, and they have a few other players from Jagerbomb along with a few new players. 5-5 record

Mustard Cubs - This team will have fun and drink a few beers before, after, and during the game, but Tom knows how to be a leader and he has a decent bunch of players around him. I just want to see Tom send Brian on a deep route and under throw him. 4-6 record

D4 free agent team - Yann is at QB with 2 tall, fast receivers in Gab and Fred so he gets what he wants and throws it deep all game. 6-4 record

Sour Peeps - This will be a hard lesson for them and especially Jocelyn who might struggle against some of the better teams. 3-7 record

Trolling Holers - This is an older version of the Trollers roster. With Josh being QB I think they will struggle on offense, but the defense could be top 3 in the division. 4-6 record

Sekure Top Shooters - This is Mike's work team and they have a few players that can take over a game, but then you add Marvin at QB and it balances the team out. Marvin is going to do what he does best and throw it deep or run. 4-6 record

Division 5

Blue Badgers - They have a few players on this team, but no one that stands out as a game changer. They will also have a new QB so there will be a learning curve. 3-7 record

Slot Machine - I recognize a few of those names but no one stands out to me. They will have a new player playing QB and unless this person has played before expect to see struggles. 2-8 record

Bear Hood - Not sure what I think about this team. It looks like Simon isn’t playing QB, but how long will that last? Let's all hope David plays QB all season because he is almost unstoppable. 5-5 record

Big Booties - This team made 2 huge upgrades from last season adding Ilias and Rob. This team has a roster that looks good on paper, but will they play that way once the whistle is blown? 6-4 record

Binettes - This is made up partly of Bines players along with a few new players. With the players that are from Bines these team looks like they can compete, but have question marks at QB. 3-7 record

Drama Club - Nico is going under center and last time he did that it didn’t last that long. 2-8 record

Free Agent Team #1 - Most free agent teams struggle and don’t be surprised to see that from them this season. 1-9 record

Jungle Squad - It's mostly the same team as last year, but this time they have a bit more experience and that will pay off for them. 3-7 record

Grizzlies - D3 winter champs. They wont look or play like they did in the winter, new QB, smaller field. They will struggle week 1 and 2, but after that they will get rolling. 7-3 record

Los Pollitos - They need more than Sam. They need to find a second stud player and are still looking. 2-8 record

Low Expectations - This is Weekend Warriors from last season, but the difference is last year they had a QB this year they don’t so their team name fits them perfectly. 3-7 record

Mimosa Crew - Curren has built a really good team around him with players like Dag, Chad, Jas, Niki as long as he plays smart football this team is one to watch out for. 7-3 record

My Ball Zach Ertz - Luca was QB last season for this team this year it will be Guillaume and it should be interesting since they are two totally different QBs. 4-6 record

Phoenix - Loads of experience and because of that they should be in most games.

Legendaries - Ben is no longer the QB and he has been replaced by Ben (ed's note: Wat?). This team is loaded on the top end of the roster. This team will need the other players on the team make plays if they want to make the playoffs. 4-6 record

Tropic Thunder - This is a very good team if their QB is healthy and there. 7-3 record

Les Last Calls - Have the best player in the division in Seb and might even have the best QB Guillaume. 6-4 record

TD Hunters - This team will be fun to watch, but might struggle against some of the more athletic teams. 4-6 record

Free Agent Team #2 - They have a good QB, but after that I know nothing about this team. 3-7 record

I know all the records might not add up correctly, so you don’t need to tell me that. These are just expectations I could see from all these teams. I wont be surprised when most of my picks are within a game up or down.

Word from the Mouth: It's All Over! edition

Word from the Mouth: It's All Over! edition

This is my final article of the spring season and it was a great season, which wouldn't have been possible without all of you the players.

In case you didn't know, this weekend we tried something new and streamed the D2, D3, & D4 finals live. If you missed out and wanted to watch it, here is the link. We also had a great day for football, well at least until the 5:30 D5 finals where it rained and made for a sloppy game.

Recap

Division 1

Outlaws vs Trollers (28-30)

This game was everything you want in a championship game. Outlaws were up 10 with under 5 minutes left in the first half and looked to be on easy street. Then they fell apart, the defense gave up a quick score and then Steve threw 2 pick 6s to Jeremy and Andrew. Instead of having a lead at half, Outlaws were down 8. Outlaws fought back with some good defense and just like in the first half they were up late in the half. Right after Steve hit Marvin for a 26-yard TD, Ben hit Andrew on a 45 yard score on the first play after giving up lead. This wasn't anything new for Steve as he has done this too many times before. Steve got Outlaws into the redzone and had 4 cracks at it. Everyone figured Outlaws were going to be adding their name onto the trophy again but the Trollers defense had other plans. Dilan had his defense in check and everyone was where they needed to be and with that Outlaws had 4 straight incomplete passes and that's the game. Trollers are champs for the first time in a very long time.

Division 2

Idaho Udapimp vs Jagerbomb (32-48)

This was our first of 3 live streamed games, so I'll make this short. First half it was back and forth. Second half rolled around and Jagerbomb started with the ball, scored, and then forced a turnover on downs giving them the ball on the 13 yard line and after scoring here they had a 32-20 lead. 2 minutes left in the game, Idaho made it a 6-point game and needed to be aggressive and get the ball back, but they got beat by JF going 45 yards for the game winning TD.

Division 3

Double Dippers vs Average Joe's (20-44)

Last time these teams played, Jason struggled and threw 3 picks. This time around he learned from his mistakes and only threw 1, but had 5 TDs. Early in the game Jason struggled to hit open receivers and looked like he might choke it away. Halfway through the second it was 20 all, and that's when Joes took over the game. Jason hit Ryan to give them a 26-20 lead and that is when it fell apart for Double Dippers. Simon threw 2 pick 6s, one to Geoffroy with 7:30 left in the game and one to Jason with under a minute left, but by that point game was already over. In-between the pick 6s, Nick made a fantastic catch down the sideline for a 43-yard TD.

Division 4

Semifinals

Sooners 45 vs Udaho Idapimp (36-19)

Idaho was missing a few players and it really showed that they were only 6 players. First half was a 14-13 game for Sooners 45. Second half rolled around, and you could just see that Udaho was out of gas. Mason had a great game for Udaho, but he wasn't able to do it all himself and needed more help if they wanted to win. Diego killed it on both sides of the ball, but I think David was the difference maker for the sooners 45 defense. He racked up 3 sacks and was in David's face all game long.

Villains vs Iron Wolves (18-20)

Jason got lucky in this one. Late in the game with a 14-12 lead and the ball, he threw a pick 6 to Vincent and this gave Villains a 18-14 lead with 1:18 left. Jason had the ball and the right plays called to get all the way down inside redzone with 1 last play. Don't ask me how, but Josh was able to get wide open in the middle of the back of the endzone for an easy 4-yard TD and a chance to play in the finals.

Finals

Sooners 45 vs Iron Wolves (38-14)

This was a 14 all game at half and I’m sure no one saw that coming. Second half was a totally different game with Sooners taking over right from the first whistle. Diego started the scoring in the second half with a pick 6 and then got his offense rolling with TDs to Jose on a 6 yards pass the him taking off for a 15 yard TD. Late in the game Iron Wolves had a few injuries and played with only 5 , right after that Francis took his pick in for a score and now with the score being 38-14 Wolves called it because they were out of players.

Division 5 Semifinals

Bear Hood vs Improbables (52-13)

What do I say about a game that Bear Hood dominated from the get-go? Simon relied on Arnaud who had a monster game scoring 3 TDs with160 receiving yards. Improbables played well all season, but in this game they didn’t help Matt out very much. Players were dropping balls on offense and couldn’t make easy tackles on defense. Bear Hood was the better team and it showed.

Sour Peeps vs My Ball Zach Ertz (25-13)

This game was tied at half time and in the second half the defense for Sour Peeps stepped up and took control of the game. They forced an interception, scored on their possession, forced a quick turnover on downs, scored again and now were sitting pretty with a 19-6 lead with 14 minutes left. Both teams would score one more each, but My Ball Zach Ertz didn’t have enough time to get back into the game.

Finals

Sour Peeps vs Bear Hood (26-24)

This game was played in the rain and there was a lot of it. Neither QB could get much going offensively and it looked like whoever ran better would win the game. Both Jocelyn and Simon relied on the short game and allow their players to do all the work. Late in the game I noticed Quentin was slipping and sliding all over the place and plays that he would normally get big yards on were cut by good tackling from the Sour Peeps defense. 3 minutes left in the game and Bear Hood are down 8 with the ball. Simon dinked and dunked his was down inside the red zone before finding Alex on a 4-yard score on fourth down. On the convert Simon went double pass between him and Quentin and when Simon threw the convert it was incomplete and just like that Sour Peeps are the D5 champs.

Playoff MVPs

I’m not doing my regular Studs & Duds and figured I’d just do Playoff MVPs. You can only win this if your team won. I don’t promote losing, at least not here.

Division 1

- Andrew Grant was the difference maker in the finals getting a pick 6 right before half and then getting the game winning TD on a 45-yard bomb.

Division 2

- JF was the only choice to make here as he went off for 3 TDs and had 2 picks on defense.

Division 3

- Jason Armenti everyone loves to pick on Jason as much as he likes to run up the scores and pad his stats against weaker teams. In the finals he showed that he can make throws and play against the best teams and that we should all stop giving him a hard time.

Division 4

- Diego Castro Arellano proved that being 18 years old gives you an huge advantage and that’s not getting tired and having energy for days. Diego Dominated on both offense and defense.

Division 5

- Paul Liboï was the player that stood out to me in this game. He caught every ball thrown his way for 65 yards and 1 TD, but really made his present felt on defense where he had 3 sacks but was up in Simons face all game.

I would have done Duds of the week as well, but if you played in the finals and didn’t win you already feel bad enough so listing off all the losers from this weekend would take a very long time. Losing is bad enough without me calling you out as well.

Final Thoughts

Let’s start by thanking you, the players, for making spring 2023 as great as it was and let’s hope Fall 2023 is just as good, if not better. With the finals happening this week we got to crown a few new teams. In D1 Trollers won for the first time in at least 3 years. D2 saw Jagerbomb win once again, and now with them moving to D1 can they come in and take over the division. D3 saw Jason and his above average Joes team win it all against an equally strong Double Dippers team. D4 had Diego lead his Sooners 45 team to their first ever title. Who can forget Sour Peeps in D5 when just a few seasons ago we were wondering if they would ever win a game and now, they are the D5 champs moving up to D4 to face a whole bunch of new challenges.

I know you have all heard of the Movie Blind Side, the story about Michael Oher’s life. You have probably also heard about the accusations that he was never adopted by the Tuohy family and what he signed was a conservatorship and not adoption papers. That’s cheezy poofed up if true.

Before this came out, the Tuohy family says that Michael and his lawyers were trying to extort 15 million dollars from them or else they would be coming out with this story. A few things bother me about this. Why did they wait so long to say anything about this? Where would he be if the family hadn’t taken him in or helped him out? Last thing I can think of was when the movie came out Michael wasn’t happy because they portrayed him as being stupid and not smart. Shouldn’t he have read the paper he was signing before signing it?

I can tell you when I get a new iPhone, I read and reread that service agreement so I don’t violate any of their rules. It might be long and boring, but knowing is half the battle.

Hope you all enjoy the week off and ill see you in a few weeks when the fall season starts. If you’re still looking for a team, I’m sure Terry and Jon could find you a spot, but you better make it quick as the season starts on the 26th of this month.

Predictions and Power Rankings Week 13

Predictions and Power Rankings Week 13

Predictions

Last week we had loads of close games, a few games were blowouts, but I’d say playoffs this year has been full of surprises. Are there going to be any upsets this week? Here are this week’s picks.

Divisions 1 Finals

Outlaws vs Trollers

This is always a tight game and last time these 2 teams met in the finals it was a 1-point game, but these aren’t the same 2 teams. Just like last time Outlaws pull off a close one with a score at the end.

Division 2 Finals

Idaho Udapimp vs Jagerbomb

Idaho is loaded with studs have a top tier QB and loads of chemistry. I can’t see Jagerbomb stopping all that fire power.

Division 3 Finals

Double Dippers vs Average Joes

Both teams are loaded all over, but this week the difference is Simon will be looking to show that last time they played his 3 picks were a one off, but this time around he throws 5. Jason you might take this as aggressive, but its what’s going to happen. (ed’s note: I didn’t follow any of that)

Division 4 Semifinals

Iron Wolves vs Villains

Villains are the better team overall, but lack experience and need to take the game seriously and not play around because Iron Wolves will use their experience to keep it closer than it should be.

Udaho Idapimp vs Sooners 45

This should be a heck of a game, but we all thought that last time and it wasn’t even close. This time around David plays better and doesn’t throw 4 picks and gets a game winning drive with under a minute left.

Division 5 Semifinals

My Ball Zach Ertz vs Sour Peeps

Sour Peeps are a very good team with an exceptional defense, but I think they will be missing a key pieces this week and that will allow for some big plays from Luca.

Improbables vs Bear Hood

Improbables don’t have anyone who can stop Quentin and because he will get most of the focus, Simon will just take every open throw you give him.

There you have it my winners for the week. I would have done my picks for D4 & D5, but then you wont stick around to see the game in person.

Final Thoughts

It’s the last week of the season and you’re either walking off the field as a winner or as a loser and we all know its more fun winning the last one of the year. I can tell you from being on both sides of the ball.

What can I say that I haven’t already said this year? Each week I tell you to take it easy and just have fun, but its time to throw all that away and play your ass off. You don’t want to wait 2 weeks to get back out there wondering if you could have done more to win.

Reminder if you are coming back in the fall, let the league know by sending an email to save your team’s spot. Good luck to everyone playing this week and see you all Saturday.

Word from the Mouth: 3peat! edition

Word from the Mouth: 3peat! edition

The weekend turned out to be warmer than I expected it to be and it was a great day for football. For the first time in a long while I didn’t have Brossard to go to on Sunday and by 3 pm I was exhausted and ready for a nap.

Has anyone been following the Womens World Cup. I caught a bit of the action and was able to see the US finally lose to Sweden and their hopes for a 3peat (ed’s note: ugh) out the door. There was the Hall of Fame game on Thursday night which saw the JETS lose to the Browns of all teams. With that game kicking off the preseason you can expect to see more games for the next few weeks (ed’s note: yeah, that is how it works…).

The better news is College starts in 19 days, so Jon I need all my games at 9 am so I have time to get home and watch the games live and not have to watch the Pac12 that is left with 4 teams next season. What a joke the Pac12 is. It used to be lots of offense and no defense. Now these teams are going to join the Big12 and the Big10 for the TV revenue.

Recap Playoffs

Division 1

Trollers vs Iron Wolves (50-33)

Demario does it again folks, joins a team plays most of the season and the goes MIA for the playoffs and this time it hurt. With him not there Willie gets moved from WR to QB and its a down grade at both spots. Vinnie was a stud and picked apart the Wolves defense like a hot knife through butter. To me the difference maker was Max rushing. He had 4 sacks and I think on one drive pushed them back from the 1-yard line all the way to the 18 creating a turnover on downs. Trollers move on and the 1 seed gets an extra week off.

Outlaws vs Gros Coqs (51-34)

The Outlaws defense smothered the Gros Coqs offense and it started with Tyler. Tyler only had 1 sack, but kept the pressure on Dom most of the day forcing 4 picks. Dom also showed Tyler a few moves as he was able to scramble for 55 yards and 2 TDs on 7 runs. Steve led the Outlaws offense to a 30-14 halftime lead and just need to hold on in the second half. Marvin played like a star with 9 catches 155 yards and 3 TDs. This is the type of game Marvin needs to have more often, but he always does it when the game counts.

Division 2

Pocket Rockets vs Thunder Buddies (47-48)

This was a very offensive game; the only defense was a pick by Willie for Thunder Buddies and 2 sacks for Khalil on Pocket Rockets. Both teams scored on every drive minus the pick and it came down right to the end where Pocket Rockets had a chance to tie it, but failed on the convert.

Nice TDs vs Master Chiefs (26-20)

Either both QBs really suck or the defenses were that great. Between Owie throwing 6 picks and Kris throwing 3, making 9 in total, you have to wonder. Haney had 3 picks to go along with his 2 TDs. Late in the game up 6, Nice TDs needed to play defense and not allow a score to tie it up. With Master chiefs driving Andrew picked the ball off with 1 minute left and of course ran his mouth and took a penalty. All Kris had to do was get a first down and the game was over.

Thunder Buddies vs Idaho Udapimp (21-26)

This game right down to the wire. Brady lead Idaho on a drive to take the lead with 1:30 left. Steve being Mr. Clutch had plenty of time to march down for a chance to win it. Thunder Buddies were on the 3 yard line before Simon took a penalty for Rusher interference pushing them back to the 7. With time for 2 plays and being so close you felt Steve was taking his team to the finals. The Idaho defense had other plans as Eric knocked a ball down and on the last play Marvin did the same thing to end the game.

Nice TDs vs Jagerbomb (12-36)

This wasn’t much of a game. Nice TDs were dead from the game before being only 6 will do that to you. Kevin killed it for Jagerbomb and no one on Nice TDs could keep up with him while running deep most of the game.

Division 3

Iron Wolves vs Average Joes (34-35) OT

This was a nail bitter and turned out better than anyone expected it to be. Somehow Jason wasn’t able to pull away and get a big lead like he is used to, guess the 3 picks he threw didn’t help. Average Joes scored and made it an 8 point game with 5 seconds left, its over at this point right. Jason said he had time and a shot and with 2 completions to Lesniak and Alex and they were only a 2 point convert from going to OT. Jason looks off the defense and finds Alex for the 2. In OT both teams got their first convert missed a few then Jason got a 1 putting all the pressure on Iron Wolves to get theirs or go home and they will be going home after the failed attempt.

Pocket Rockets vs Red Cats (28-27)

This game looked to be over with Red Cats holding a 27-0 lead and 1 play to go in the half. Ali was able to jump an out route and pick the ball off and in the process of returning it was held and with it being last man back 6 points were awarded, they made the convert and suddenly it was 27-8 with Pocket Rockets getting the ball to start the second half. First half PO sucked, and Avery was rolling that switched in the second half with PO relying on Willie to move the chains. It wasn’t just the QBs who flipped how they were playing it was also their defenses.

Mustard Tiger vs Raw Sauce (19-20)

This one just like the other D3 games came right down to the end. With under a minute left, Ludovic tied it at 19 with a TD pass to Yvan and took the lead on a convert to Nathaniel. Now with a 20-19 lead they needed their defense to step up and get a stop. Brian has a few very good players, and he is smart and should at least have a shot at getting the win. First play was incomplete and what’s worse is they waste 39 seconds off the clock for no yards then followed that up with a 13-yard gain and used a timeout. The last 2 plays were Brian getting a 5-yard checkdown to Victor then a sack. He had time for 2 plays should have taken a shot at the endzone or at least get halfway then chuck it up.

RawSauce vs Average Joes (34-40)

Round 1 was a wake up call for Jason and he knew he got lucky and wasn’t going to let that happen again this time. Joes were in control the entire way; they were never threatened. RawSauce score on the last play and got the 2point convert, but at that point Joes didn’t care they were moving onto the finals.

Pocket Rockets vs Double Dippers (16-32)

PO started out slow in this game and you can’t do that when you’re playing the top team in the division. What killed it for Pocket Rockets was the 5 picks they threw, with most of them coming early. This game was over by half with Double Dippers being up 24-0, then they started with a score in the second half to make the lead insurmountable. PO got 2 TDs late, but it was already over at that point.

Division 4

Cyclones vs Villains (29-36)

I wont lie, no one saw this coming, Cyclones were expected to lose by double digits at least. I can tell you that this game could have been very different if Nick had picked off 3 passes instead of just 1. On Villains opening drive Nick had a chance to pick the ball, but it fell incomplete, and Villains scored on that drive. Midway through the second half with the score 22-14 Villains, Nick was in position to pick off another pass, but misplayed the ball and that went for a 45-yard TD. Nick wasn’t the only one who screwed up in this game as Alex twice gave up safeties, first on a intentional grounding penalty and the second one was on the last drive where he slipped in the endzone sealing the game in favor of Villains.

Bouchers vs Sooners 45 (26-32)

I know very little from this game, but what I know was that Bouchers had a chance after giving up a TD to try and win it. Bouchers started the drive with an incomplete pass followed by a  20 yard completion to Xavier. With the ball at mid field Lukas has more than enough arm to get the ball to the endzone and he also had plenty of time left. On his very next throw Jose picked it off and ended the game.

Bines Low Fat vs Udaho Idapimp (18-20)

Bines jumped up 12 and were looking good, but slowly David crept back into it making the score 12-7 at half. Second half rolled around and Udaho kept marching the ball and wound up with a 20 to 12 lead with just under 8 minutes left. JF used 5 minutes of clock and scored, now needing a 2 point convert to tie missed on his throw. This meant that Udaho needed a few first downs to seal the win, but also meant that Bines were going to be aggressive, which they were. David was able to hit 2 short throws and on third down he took off for a big gain getting a first down and wrapping up the game.

Iron Wolves vs Super Friends (50-32)

Jason played lights out throwing 7 TDs to 0 picks. After the game Oliver came up and mentioned that Alex Novi who is their best overall player wasn’t there and it showed. He also said that they didn’t have it today, when you score 32 and lose it’s a bad day. Iron Wolves played as a team with everyone contributing.

Division 5

Titans vs Sour Peeps (7-36)

It took Jocelyn a little while to get going, but once he did he threw 5 TDs and 0 picks. I told Robert that he would have to avoid throwing the ball near Lambert, but he didn’t listen and Lambert picked him off once and returned it for a TD. Flavie was a machine on defense racking up 11 tackles and the thing is she didn’t miss any, so there was no YAC.

Tropic Thunder vs Bear Hood (13-39)

This was not a game where you want to try someone new at QB. Connor didn’t look good and made some poor choices.  I mean, how do you throw 4 picks to 1 player? Simon did what he has all season and thrown to the open player and this game it was everyone with 5 of his receivers catching TDs. Quentin caught as many balls (4) from his QB as he did from Tropic Thunders.

Phoenix vs Improbables (15-27)

This game was really 2 halves. First half Phoenix was in complete control, well after Matt had his pick 6 to open the game. After that Phoenix scored on their next 2 drives and looked to be in the driver’s seat. In the first half Improbables didn’t get a first down. Second half comes and Phoenix looked like a different team. They were missing tackles all over the place, out of position and couldn’t move the ball. Improbables on the other hand made some adjustments and they all worked. They opened the second half marching down on 4 or 5 plays to score then followed that up with Matt running for a 45-yard TD, then JP put the final nail in the coffin when he scored with under 12 minutes left.

My Ball Zach Ertz vs Mimosa Crew (30-12)

After this one was over Curren mentioned to me that he stunk in the game that he was missing throws and was taking too much time to make his reads, but the blame shouldn’t be put all on him. I was also able to speak to Luca who wanted to know why I picked against them. Luca played great at least using his arm throwing 5 TDs and no picks. If he took Terrys advice about running that didn’t work out for him as he ran 12 times for 17 yards and was sacked 4 times by Ilias.

That’s all I have for recaps. I wrote a bit on every game because I’m not sure what Terry and Willie will talk about on this weeks Podcast.

Predictions and Power Rankings Week 12

Predictions and Power Rankings Week 12

Predictions

The season is over and the winner of the picks is Jon by 1 game. This is the second time Willie has lost by 1 game and this time it wasn’t by a forfeit, it was because he didn’t pick a game that he knew he was subbing in. Most of the season it was a very tight race for first and for last. Now to week 1 of the playoff and here are my picks.

Division 1

Iron Wolves vs Trollers

Trollers have been up and down all season with players missing each week and with that their chemistry won’t be there.

Gros Coqs vs Outlaws

Outlaws have seemed off all season and because of that I have no confidence in them pulling it off.

Division 2

Thunder Buddies vs Pocket Rockets

This is a rematch of last week and this time both offenses score a few more points, but Thunder Buddies win because of converts.

Nice TDs vs Master Chiefs

Hate to say it, but Master Chiefs pull off the upset. It won’t really be an upset if what I have heard is true. I have inside info that I don’t feel is fair to mention at this point.

Division 3

Average Joes vs Iron Wolves

Just because they are way more athletic and their QB has a bit more experience.

Red Cats vs Pocket Rockets

They find a way to put points on the board and playing great defense doesn’t matter if you can’t match your opponent’s TDs.

RawSauce vs Mustard Tigers

Both teams have been hit or miss all season with their rosters, but I had to pick a winner and I picked RawSauce because I expect a big game from Yvan.

Division 4

Villains vs Cyclones

They don’t have any real weaknesses to pick on and Jeremi knows how to get it done.

Sooners45 vs Bouchers

Younger and more athletic.

Udaho Idapimp vs Bines Low Fat

Last year Bines Low Fat won it all and everyone didn’t think they had a chance the same thing this season, but Udaho are far better than any team they played last year, so this time they get sent home early.

Super Friends vs Iron Wolves

Both QBs are relatively new at the position and both have a good receiver to rely on (ed’s note: thanks, Kevin!), the big difference will be who protects the ball better and this season it has been Oliver.

Division 5

Sour Peeps vs Titans

They are too strong for Titans to win unless Jocelyn really chokes and that won’t happen this weekend.

Bear Hood vs Tropic Thunder

Simon has a stacked team loaded from top to bottom and with Tropic Thunder not having their QB there I can’t see them having much of a chance.

Mimosa Crew vs My Ball Zach Ertz

Mimosa Has a very good team and will need to contain Luca to win and not allow him to run every other play.

Imprbables vs Phoenix NA

I don’t pick my team’s games.

I can only tell you who I was picking for round 1 of the playoffs since those are the only matchups we know right now.

At this point rankings don’t mean candy canes and it’s win and move on or lose and wait until fall to play again.

Those are the players that made my list and it was a lot harder than I expected it to be. Some will agree, some won’t, but all you can do is complain to Jon. I based my picks off stats and that is it, so if you didn’t have the numbers suck it up and deal with it.

Final Thoughts

Only a few days away from round 1 of the playoffs and boy do I wish the weekend was here already, not just for football but I’m on vacation next week and get to relax.

It’s getting to that time of the year where registration is open for the Fall season, so if you want a spot you need to notify the league and send in your deposits before August 14 if I’m correct, which I always am.

NFL season kicks off in 36 days which means I won’t have to hear anymore dumb training camp news. Most players look decent in training camp and I hate the preseason. I can tell by week 3 or 4 how a player will be or that team will finish, every team is one injury away from changing everything.

Now to more important news. College football starts even sooner, specifically in 23 days, 20 hours and 25 minutes at the time of me writing this. The one thing that sucks is I won’t get to watch many college games that aren’t the PAC12 since I’m out at field all day. Jon, you need to get on building an indoor facility with AC and a big ass jumbotron so that we can all see what’s going on in between plays and maybe even get a few ideas for new plays.

I know it’s playoffs and you want to leave it all out on the field, but just remember at the end of the day we are all playing a game and it’s for fun, so go have some and try not to kill anyone. See you Saturday and good luck to everyone playing this week.
