Word from the Mouth: 70s Style! edition

Word from the Mouth: 70s Style! edition

We have made it to the end of the season and that means playoffs for those who made it. Last week we had a few games that were very meaningful and a few that meant nothing, and I was hoping both teams would have realized that and just play to avoid anyone getting hurt.

By the end of the day the fields weren’t in good shape and players were slipping and sliding all over. If I had been playing late in the day and the game was meaningless, I wouldn’t have played, and I would have told my team the same. Years back my team was in this position, and I chose not to play, but my teammates didn’t listen and a few got hurt and couldn’t play the following week. Sometimes it’s better to be smart than worry about your stats.

Recap

Division 1

Trollers vs Iron Wolves (46-36)

Haney scored 4 TDs alone in this game and seemed unstoppable. Willie threw 2 picks to Dilan, the first one could have blown the game wide open on the first play of the second half while holding a 7-point lead, but Willie got that one right back. The second pick Dilan got was the final nail in the coffin and when the Trollers scored it put them up 2 scores and they never looked back.

Centurions vs Gros Coqs (70-18)

With Iron Wolves losing all Gros Coqs had to do was not give up 55 or more points. This seemed like it was simple and very doable. Let me mention that Dom and a few others weren’t there, and that Alexis was playing QB. I was also told that the players that were there didn’t play hard and didn’t care about playing defense. Giving up 70 is still unheard of, especially in D1.

Division 2

Jagerbomb vs Mater Chiefs (53-30)

Having watched this game, for it to only be a 23-point difference is very surprising. Owie threw 5 picks all in the first half and in the second half relied heavily on Dilan and Ashton who scored 3 more times to bring his season total to 32. Simon didn’t do anything special, but JF caught everything thrown his way and turned his 14 catches into 103 yards and 3 TDs.

Pocket Rockets vs Thunder Buddies (20-21)

This was a meaningless sloppy game and they will get to replay it next week. No matter what had happened it was already locked in that they would play again. Both teams struggled to move the ball and if it wasn’t for a few drops and slips by receivers, Pocket Rockets might have won. Late in the game Thunder Buddies scored to make it 20 all. On the convert Steve had David drop back and this made Pocket Rockets send a second rusher which allowed Remy to find the open hole in the endzone for the game winning 1-point convert.

Division 3

Double Dippers vs Douilles Molasses (41-33)

Double Dippers pulled a cheap move and brought in Farell Gnago who no one knew but looked the part of a football player and he also played like a football player. This game was better than I really expected it to be. Eric and Rich combined for 5 sacks on Felix and I feel if Felix would just throw the ball earlier and not run around, they might have won. Simon was back under center for Dippers, and he looked good throwing.

Division 4

Black Diamonds vs Cyclones (43-24)

Black Diamonds could have played spoiler by scoring over 53 points and it looked very doable. Terry had them up 25-0 at half. Second half rolled around and Elijah woke up and made a game of it winning the second half.

Villains vs Drama Club (37-19)

First half of this game was back and forth, but when the second half rolled around Villains had enough and took over the game. Fat Lamar was out there for Villains and scored 4 TDs on 6 catches that totaled 67 yards. Simon wasn’t here to throw for Drama Club, so Quentin subbed in and threw. Roxanne had a good game for Drama Club with 8 catches and 2 TDs, but it wasn’t enough.

Sooners45 vs RawSauce (42-21)

Sooners were looking to stay rolling going into the playoffs and that’s what they did by doubling up on a RawSauce team that hasn’t looked good all season. Once again teams can’t stop Diego from running, but this time Jose got a few runs in as well. On the ground Sooners had 98 yards and when you add in the 174 through the air, it’s a very hard team to stop.

Super Friends vs Iron Wolves (34-18)

Iron Wolves had a lead at half 12-6 and could have taken control of the game with them starting with the ball in the second half. Jason drove the Wolves down the field before throwing a pick to Elis who ran it back for 6 points. Second half Super Friends owned it until Iron Wolves scored late in the game to make it only a 16-point game.

Division 5

Phoenix vs Improbabies (ed’s note: is that a deliberate typo?) (34-18)

This was a fun game to play in. Matt was sick and probably should have stayed home, but without Gold there to play QB he decided to stick it out and play. Other than 2 or 3 throws that were picked off, Matt played a very good game. Phoenix moved the ball well all game and were helped by some poor tackling by the Improbabies (ed’s note: I mean, this has to be intentional, right?) defense. Both teams had subs and knew that they were almost guaranteed to play each other in the first round of the playoffs, so late in the game with Phoenix being up 2 scores we all just had fun. Alex had used all his teams’ timeouts, so I gave him control of our team’s this way they got to play a bit longer and it also bothered Marvin which was the whole point of it.

Titans vs My Ball Zack Ertz (20-33)

Going into this game the winner was guaranteed a playoff spot and the loser would have to sit around and hope for some help. Guillaume was a stud for My Ball Zack Ertz getting 10 catches for 132 yards, scoring 3 TDs, getting 1 pick and throwing a TD on the last play of the first half. Robert relied on the McMahon brother who grabbed a combined 11 catches for 142 yards and 2 TDs. The biggest surprise from this game was Jalen racking up 5 sacks on Luca and only allowing him to gain 34 yards on 14 carries.

That is all I have for you in way of recaps. Look out for a special edition of the MFL podcast this week loaded with special guests.

Studs & Duds

It’s the last week of the season and your last chance to make my list before playoffs. This week I might be a bit biased and lean towards players that helped their team secure a playoff spot or in some cases players who blew it and cost their team a playoff berth.

Studs

Division 1

- Shawn Haney had 6 catches for 76 yards, 4 TDs and 1 1point convert. He also made 3 tackles on defense.

Division 2

- Jean-Félix Daloze had 14 catches for 103 yards, 3 TDs, 1 2point convert and made 5 tackles with 1 pick on defense.

Division 3

-  Simon Blais was 23 of 29 for 249 yards, 6 TDs, 1 1point convert, 2 2point converts and made 2 tackles on defense.

Division 4

- Jeremi O'Reilly did it all once again this week managing to go 16 of 19 for 193 yards, 5 TDs, 1 1point convert, ran 4 times for 67 yards, 1 TD. On defense he made 5 tackles and had 1 pick.

Division 5

- Guillaume Malo was a beast this week making sure his team would play next week. Guillaume went 1 for 1 for 29 yards and a TD as a QB. He caught 10 passes for 132 yards, 3 TDs and 1 1point convert. He also got 2 tackles and a pick on defense.

Duds

Division 1

- Gros Coqs defense for giving up 70 points and losing out on the number 1 seed.

Division 2

- Owie for throwing 5 picks in the first half versus Jagerbomb.

Division 3

- PO for playing a few snaps on defense and making it a forfeit against Iron Wolves and eliminating Bines by doing this.

Division 4

- Terry Babalis played a great game and would have been my player of the week except at half of his game mentioning how it was 25-0 and they were on their way to eliminating Cyclones by putting up 53 and not getting it done.

Division 5

- Max Rosenfeld for not being there for a win and you’re in the playoffs game.

There you have it, week 12’s winners and losers.

Predictions and Power Rankings Week 11

Predictions and Power Rankings Week 11

Predictions

Heading into the last week of regulation and Jon has a 1 game lead over Willie because Willie subbed in a game and decided not to pick that game. With the race being so close Willie might be having deja vu from a few seasons ago where he lost to Terry because of a forfeit. One thing for sure is that there will be a first-time winner this season, unless both Jon and Willie really screw up, but with the lead they have its almost impossible for the rest of us to get there.

Division 1

Trollers vs Wolves

They come out and play their asses off trying to get the first seed in the playoffs.

Gros Coqs vs Centurions

When this game is played Gros Coqs will know what they need to do to win the game and will get it done with ease.

Division 2

Master Chiefs vs Marvels

This game has so much on the line and with the way Master Chiefs have played the last few games it will be hard to stop them and I just don’t think Marvels have enough to get it done.

Nice TDs vs Thunder Buddies

Chemistry is the difference in this game. Nice TDs have a few subs so it will take time for adjustments to be made.

Idaho Udapimp vs Marvels

With them losing earlier in the day they have nothing left to play for and Marvels just show up and try to play spoiler, but are outgunned in this one.

Jagerbomb vs Master Chiefs

I was going to go Jagerbomb until I saw they have a few subs. Owie keeps the team rolling and uses this game as a tune up for playoffs.

Pocket Rockets vs Thunder Buddies

This game has more meaning for Thunder Buddies as they have a chance for first place, so Steve keeps the team pumped up and rolls through Pocket Rockets like they were the JV team.

Division 3

Mustard Tigers vs Wolves

It’s a meaningless game for Tigers, but they need to get back to wining going into playoffs and this week their roster shows up and they win by 2 scores convincingly.

Pocket Rockets vs Wolves

They have the better roster the stronger QB and much more to play for in this game.

RawSauce vs Phoenix NA

I don’t pick my teams games.

Double Dippers vs Douilles Molasses

Double Dippers come out on fire and lock up the number 1 seed.

Division 4

Black Diamonds vs Cyclones

All Cyclones has to do is show up and not give up more than 29 points and they are off to playoffs, that shouldn’t be too hard for them.

Villains vs Drama Club

This isn’t even going to be close, Villains are just too strong.

Sooners 45 vs RawSauce

RawSauce has no QB and won’t be able to stop Diego.

Super Friends vs Wolves

To secure third place in the division all they need to do is show up, give up less than 71 points if they do give up that many, they shouldn’t even be allowed into playoffs.

Division 5

Jungle Squad vs Tropic Thunder

Its now or never for Tropic Thunder. Either they win and hope for the best or they lose and go home without making a playoff appearance. They are the stronger team with the better roster and way more experience.

Titans vs My Ball Zack Ertz

They won’t be able to stop Lucas from running all over them.

Improbables vs Phoenix NA

I don’t pick my own games.

Big Booties vs Sour Peeps

They are just the better team and have more than just 1 player.

There you have it, my picks for the last week of the season.

Power Rankings

It’s that time of the week where we get to see if your team has made the rankings. With the way the last few weeks have gone, I don’t think I’ll have to make many changes, but no one knows until the rankings are posted.

Division 1

1- Gros Coqs

2- Iron Wolves

3- Outlaws

Division 2

1- Idaho Udapimp

2- Nice TDs

3- Jagerbomb

Division 3

1- Double Dippers

2- Average Joes

3- Pocket Rockets

Division 4

1- Sooners 45

2- Villains

3- Super Friends

Division 5

1- Bear Hood

2- Mimosa Crew

3- Improbables

Those are the rankings after week 11. Stay tuned to see what I do for playoffs next week.

Final Thoughts

Last week of the season is here and a bunch of teams are fighting for the playoffs and seeding. Some teams need to get better seeding if they expect to make a run at the title and other teams I feel just need to get in and can beat anyone.

Is it not ridiculous that top tier RBs are paid like second or third tier WRs in the NFL? (ed’s note: Really, no. Running back by committee, a shrinking talent gap between top level RBs, and a game that is moving more and more to the passing game all make it obvious why this is the case. Or were you once again just demonstrating your lack of understanding of professional football?) Growing up as a kid playing tackle in the 90s everyone wanted to be a RB, nowadays everyone wants to play WR and make one-handed grabs.

How football has changed and players have all become soft. (ed’s note: Ah, I see it was indeed the demonstrating a lack of understanding. Carry on.)

Justin Herbert is now the highest paid player ever in the NFL with his 5 year 262.5 million contract. This will last until next season when Joe Burrow gets his new contract and makes this one look like pocket change. Ill say it now before it happens, but Burrows is going to be the next Manning. Wins lots of games in the season, but cant get by his rival Pat Mahomes in the playoffs.

Before I let you go, even if it’s the last week of the season and you’re battling for playoffs, we’re still playing a game and it’s for fun, so take it easy out there and have fun. Good luck to everyone and see you Saturday.

Word from the Mouth: Phoning It In! edition

Word from the Mouth: Phoning It In! edition

There is only one week left in the season and this past one was a rough one, at least weather wise. It started out nice and was expected to rain a bit, but that never happened and by day’s end it was just hot and gross.

Less than 7 weeks from the NFL start date and even less for NCAA and I can’t wait.

I don’t know how well it will take, but on Sunday after Brossard I spent a while fixing up Le Ber by seeding and soiling the field. If we give it a few weeks and we get some rain it should be good for fall season. I know it’s early to be thinking fall season already, but with teams being eliminated from playoffs they might need an early jump on it.

Recaps

Division 1

Outlaws vs Gros Coqs (39-41)

Marvin had himself a game with 4 TDs on 13 catches with 116 yards, showing that he can still be a dominant player. Smuda was back, but didn’t last the whole game. It was nice to see him out there again though. Steve played some defense and even picked off one of Dom’s passes, but it was on a convert so it wont show upon stat sheet. Gros Coqs were led offensively by Bresse and Nicolas. Defensively both teams had 1 pick and 1 sack and made each other earn what they got. Late in the game both teams were messing around and allowed Jaf and Vince to try and throw the ball. Jaf threw his and it was incomplete, and Vince thought he had the rusher beat and it wasn’t even close before he got sacked on the convert.

Division 2

Jagerbomb vs Pocket Rockets (29-28)

At first it looked like PO, and his squad were going to runaway with it scoring on their first 2 drives and getting a 14-0 lead. That might have been the case against a less experienced team, but not with Jagerbomb who have all been in that position before. Jagerbomb had a brief lead for like 2 minutes, but needed to score on their last drive of the game to tie it up. Simon dinked and dunked his way down to the endzone before finding Max for the score and Jon on the convert to get the lead, leaving little time for Pocket Rockets. PO hit Leo for a big gain and it seemed like they were going to score, but then PO got sacked and threw a pick. Alex and Leo put up big numbers, but only scored twice for Pocket Rockets. Then you had JF who almost had triple the yards of his closet teammate while scoring 3 times.

Marvel vs Spritz Gang (forfeit)

Spritz Gang couldn’t field a team and that meant it was just a pickup game with no meaning to it. I just want to say that there was nothing better than watching Leo play QB. The first time he ran and then threw the ball 5 to 7 yards past the line was great. Leo has an arm, but needs to learn where the line of scrimmage is. Jose put up what might be career yards for him with 106 on 7 catches. I’m still waiting for the piss test to come back when we’re checking for drugs. But only weed, the rest are legal in MFL (ed’s note: soon to be mandatory!).

Division 3

Red Cats vs Mustard Tigers (26-13)

This game was close all the way through and considering the roster Mustard Tigers showed up with, everyone was surprised and I mean everyone. Avery struggled completing 9 of 18 for 104 yards with 3 TDs and 4 picks, he only ran 5 times, but it seemed like so much more than that. Both teams played good defense which kept the game close. Jie was mustard Tigers best player catching 10 balls for 80 yards, but made a bigger impact on defense getting 3 picks and 2 were in the end zone. Victor made some ridiculous catches on the sideline and in the end zone. Ben Mallet got a pick late and scored on the return to seal the game for Red Cats.

Phoenix vs Double Dippers (28-37)

Double Dippers won a closer game than most would have expected when you see that they had 5 picks. No one on Double Dippers dominated the game like they had hoped, but it was a balanced game from their offense. Phoenix had 3 players throw passes and with nothing on the line just wanted to be competitive and have some fun.

RawSauce vs Douilles Molasses (33-19)

Ludovic told me before the game that they always beat this team and asked how could I pick against them. Douilles Molasses came out and played, but didn’t do anything special in the game. Felix did a good job running, but that was about it. Ludovic fed the ball to Marc-Antoine who ended the game with 7 catches for 121 yards and 3 TDs.

Double Dippers vs Average Joes (18-13)

Brady did what he set out to do when joining Double Dippers and that was beat Jason and Average Joes. I heard Alex dropped about 5 balls and at least 2 TDs in this game. Jason stunk it up once again throwing 3 picks to just 1 TD, but he was able to run one in. This could be a finals matchup and maybe Jason doesn’t want to give anything away, but this can happen when you play a team just as athletic as yours is.

Bines vs Pocket Rockets (18-49)

Phil and Leo caught 12 of 18 completions from PO and had 180 of his 215 yards as well as 5 of 7 TDs. This game was never close once Pocket Rockets got the ball. They scored at will and made it look easy. Benoit had a great game on defense getting 3 sacks and a pick.

Division 4

Villains vs Bouchers (27-12)

Bouchers opened the scoring on their first drive, but Villains responded by scoring 27 straight points before Bouchers could get back into the endzone. Lukas threw 4 picks and that’s way too many against a team that is much stronger than yours is. Jeremi put up all sorts of good numbers, but I heard that it was his legs that killed them.

Iron Wolves vs Drama Club (39-28)

Simon struggled a bit with Lavoie rushing him as he was sacked 3 times and threw 2 picks, 1 to josh who returned it for a score and the worst one of all the one to Jon just for that you must wear a bag at the field next week (ed’s note: I average like a pick a game and I play short coverage!). Jason relied on Josh and Connor to move the ball and get in the endzone. They combined for 13 catches 166 yards and 4 TDs.

Udaho Idapimp vs Black Diamonds (13-18)

Udaho were without David at QB, so Julian filled in and he isn’t a QB, but with that happening they were also down a very good receiver. Terry had Massil this week and he hadn’t played in long time, and he was explosive on the field. Massil went off for 106 yards on 12 catches and scored 2 TDs. (ed’s note: how do you not mention this is Black Diamond’s first win of the season!)

RawSauce vs Bines Low Fat (19-26)

When I looked to see the rosters then saw the score, I was surprised that RawSauce lost. Ludovic relied on Marc-Antoine who had 5 more catches for 73 yards and 2 TDs. Bines didn’t do anything fancy or special, they were just very consistent and JF did a great job protecting the ball and not getting put in many third and long situations.

Cyclones vs Airborne (32-12)

Alex won the game for Cyclones, kept their playoff hopes alive, but didn’t have a great game. He won because of his legs which he scored twice using. At half it was 26-0 and there was no coming back from that as Airborne dropped too many balls, ran wrong routes, and just didn’t seem to have their heads in the game.

Division 5

Phoenix vs Sour Peeps (12-20)

This game started great for Phoenix with them jumping up 12-0 early and looking to run away with it. Sour Peeps made a few adjustments and things started to turn around. Oliver scoring on a 45-yard TD because of poor tackling started it all for them. Second half rolled around and late in the game Phoenix went for it deep in their zone and failed leaving a short field for Jocelyn and an easy time taking the lead. Phoenix had a shot late, but I didn’t see a wide-open receiver in the endzone on the last play and the pass I threw fell incomplete. It was a close fun game, but not the way I wanted my first game back after 3 weeks off to go.

Improbables vs Los Pollitos (43-24)

Alex is really pilling up those catches on the season getting another 9 this week. Gold was the bright star for Improbables getting 4 TDs on 5 catches and getting 58 yards. Matt has come a long way this season and has put up impressive numbers, this week going 23 of 29. Sam played QB and was 11 of 14 with 4 TDs, 3 of them going LP. Los Pollitos have gotten better over the years, but are still another solid player away from really competing in the division.

Bear Hood vs Mimosa Crew (31-14)

The game everyone thought would be closer turned out to be not so close and Simon was in control right from the start. Ilisa played very well this week getting 6 catches for 96 yards and 1 TD. I would have thought that Curren would have used him more this season on offense, but it hasn’t worked out that way. When a play needed to be made Simon just threw it up to Quentin who score twice on his 3 catches and had 77 yards. Surprisingly Alex put a nice game together with 6 catches for 51 yards and 2 TDs.

Weekend Warriors vs Titans (25-19)

Christopher Jovani dominated this game and made Elijah look good with his play. Elijah was 13 of 32 for 212 yards 4 TDs and 2 picks. Chris had 5 catches for 122 yards and 2 TDs, so more than half those numbers. Marcel stepped up and had 2 picks on defense for Weekend Warriors. Austin and Biddle were the only 2 bright spots to look at on Titans and if it wasn’t for them it could have been much worse.

Legendaries vs Los Pollitos (31-25)

Ben was banged up, so Ben Mallette went QB and put up a good first half with 3 TDs no picks. Second half wasn’t the same as Los Pollitos made a change or two. Very late in the game it was tied and Legendaries forced a turnover on downs and gave Ben a shot to win in regulation and not have to go to OT. Ben hits Nick for the game winning score with no time left on the clock giving Legendaries the win and wrapping up their season.

That’s all I have for this week in recaps. Terry, Wille and who knows maybe even Jaf will have more on the podcast that will be out Wednesday around 6pm.

Studs & Duds

With the season just about over and teams fighting for playoff spots, loads of players balled out and made making my picks a bit difficult, but I still managed to get the cream of the crop along with the bottom of the barrel.

Studs

Division 1

- Marvin Steinberg made the list because he scored 4 TDs and 1 1point convert. On the day he made 13 catches for 116 yards on defense he made 6 tackles.

Division 2

- Jean-Félix Daloze had 11 catches for 114 yards and 3 TDs plus he made 4 tackles on defense, those are great numbers for a center.

Division 3

- Marc-Antoine Léveillée caught 7 passes for 121 yards, 3 TDs and made 1 tackle on defense.

Division 4

- Jeremi O'Reilly did a bit of everything for Villains this weekend. He was 15 of 24 for 154 yards and 3 TDs, he caught 1 pass for 7 yards, ran 12 for 66 yards and 1 TD, made 3 tackles and had 2 picks on defense.

Division 5

- Benjamin Mallette first time QB getting the W on the last play of the game. Ben was 15 of 35 for 200 yards, 5 TDs, 1 1point convert, threw 1 pick, ran 8 times for 72 yards and made 2 tackle.

Duds

Division 1

- Alexis Ferrand only get 1 catch for 8 yards, everyone expects more.

Division 2

- Spritz Gang for phoning it in with a forfeit.

Division 3

- Alexandre Szaplipski for his at least 5 dropped passes against Average Joes. When you want to be considered a top tier receiver you can’t have multiple drops in a close game especially when at least 2 of them would have been TDs.

Division 4

- Udaho Idapimp for letting Black Diamonds get their first win of the season. I know you were short a QB, but you are the better team by far.

Division 5

- Michael Lesniak for playing horribly and ending the season with a 4-interception game.

Next week is you last chance to make the list so you better ball out or choke if you want to see your name up here before the season ends.

Predictions and Power Rankings Week 10

Predictions and Power Rankings Week 10

Predictions

Another week down and another Skittles week for me falling farther back. With 2 weeks left it looks like it is between Willie and Jon for first and unless I pick it up, I’ll be last.

Jon, if you have to go in and make a few games a forfeit so Willie doesn’t win, no one on the Media team will have any issues with that. Now to this week’s picks in bold like always.

Division 1

Outlaws vs Gros Coqs

I don’t trust the Outlaws defense at this point to stop or even slow Dom and his offense down.

Centurions vs Iron Wolves

They score more and give up way fewer points.

Division 2

Jagerbomb vs Pocket Rockets

Just my gut telling me that Simon gets the job done in a near perfect game.

Thunder Buddies vs Idaho Udapimp

They will have the better roster at least in this game.

Marvels vs Spritz Gang

They have the better athletes and the better players.

Division 3

Douilles Molasses vs RawSauce

They need it more and will pull out all the stops to get the win and have any chance at the playoffs.

Double Dippers vs Average Joes

Without a QB, Double Dippers don’t stand much of a chance.

Red Cats vs Mustard Tigers

Avery should be back and will give them a boost on offense and get their defense straightened back out and playing at an elite level.

Double Dippers vs Phoenix NA

I don’t pick my teams games.

Bines vs Pocket Rockets

They have the bigger stars and the better players.

Division 4

Villains vs Bouchers

They are the better team with the better players.

Drama Club vs Iron Wolves

Simon is banged up and might have some issue throwing.

Udaho Idapimp vs Black Diamonds

Udaho is by far the better team at most positions and Black Diamonds will struggle in this one.

RawSauce vs Bines Low Fat

They have the better QB.

Cyclones vs Airborne

Guillaume is the more experience QB and with Alex not playing receiver means the Cyclones offense is weak and might struggle to move the ball.

Division 5

Los Pollitos vs Improbables

If they can stop Sam, they win this game easily, but I think it will turn out to be harder then they expect and be a close game.

Bear Hood vs Mimosa Crew

I was thinking this would be a close game, but with the players missing from Mimosa Crew I won’t be surprised if it was a 2 or 3 score difference.

Phoenix vs Sour Peeps NA

I don’t pick my teams games.

Weekend Warriors vs Titans

They have the better QB, way less experience, but the better athletes, plus I’m not sure if Ben will be there for Titans this weekend.

Jungle Squad vs Big Booties

They will be more organized, and they also have Max.

Los Pollitos vs Legendaries

They have to many weapons on both sides of the ball not to get this win.

Titans vs Kiss My Pass

Even though they will be lacking in the speed department they will make up for it with have the more complete team.

Chili Hotdogs vs Bear Hood

They are the better team, and it looks like Chili Hotdogs will be missing their QB with Goldrick filling in.

There you have my picks. If my picks are like the last few weeks I only got half my games right, so you pick which ones they are.

Power Rankings

With 10 weeks in the books the rankings look a lot different then when the season started. After last week’s games I mixed a few things up.

There are your rankings and I’m sure some changes will be made after this week.

Final Thoughts

Every gamer knows what time of the year it is and if you don’t its Madden Rating time. Every year Madden puts out the same game with a few little tweaks here and there and everyone says how much better it is. Then it comes out and is glitchy as a silly goose and they Yankee Doodle up a bunch of things and they’re doing updates for months. Madden used to be great, now it is just ok (ed’s note: what a hot take!).

I’m waiting for NCAA football to come back out so I can take a team like North Texas and win it all after 2 seasons. I will need a season to get recruits and to get Georgia, Bama, and a few other top teams on my schedule, but we must wait until at least July 2024 before it comes out, if it ever does.

Before I let you all go, please remember were playing a game, so go out, have fun, and don’t kill anyone. Good luck to everyone this weekend and see you all Saturday.

Word from the Mouth: No Heat Stroke For Me! edition

Man, what a weekend it was. We had at least 3 players celebrating birthdays on Saturday and 2 of them celebrated with wins.

Last week I warned everyone to bring plenty of water, so you won’t pass out and die. Normally its me who ends up on the floor cramping up and puking by the end of those hot days. This week I was fine and maybe it had to do with not playing any games this week, but I was still out there in the sun all day. I heard Jon was passing out and couldn’t last all day, Nick when I got to Leber after cleaning up Arthur Therrien was unable to move, I also know a few other players were telling me on Sunday that they were cramping up all night. Water won’t take care of everything but the combination of staying hydrated, using sunscreen, wearing a hat and trying to stay in as much shade as possible will help. We have 2 weeks left of the season before playoffs and once August or at least September the temperature will be cooler and everyone will be complaining about it being cold, except me who will still be walking around shirtless like always.

Recap

Division 1

Iron Wolves vs Trollers (30-28)

Max and Demario put up almost identical numbers, but the difference was Max had more completions than Demario had attempts. Max worked the field and Demario got big plays from his receivers. Late in game Max was leading Trollers down to take the lead, but Meis picked off his pass and allowed Demario to run out the clock.

Division 2

Pocket Rockets vs Marvels (28-20)

This was the last game of the day, and everyone was tired. Meis had a big game for Marvels with 8 catches for 83 yards, but just couldn’t find the endzone. Manu subbed and scored twice. Leo could have had a bigger game than he did, but dropped a deep ball early in the game that he easily would have scored on. The sight of the game was watching PO rush most of the game, he didn’t get any stats, but they were only 6 so he bit the bullet and rushed.

Division 3

Phoenix vs Douilles Molasses (19-32)

I only saw half of this game and it didn’t look good for the Phoenix defense. They missed a few tackles that turned into big scores and allowed a jump ball on the last play of the half. Phoenix had no answer for Felix, he picked them apart through the air and ran around like there was no one rushing him, at least from what I saw.

Double Dippers vs Mustard Tigers (30-7)

Double Dippers had no QB, so they let the 6-interception man from D4 fill in. Surprisingly Alex cut his picks in half and only threw 3. Mustard Tigers were without their best player Victor and didn’t stand much of a chance with Double Dippers being way more athletic. No one in this game had great stats. Alex from Double Dippers had 2 picks and so did Jie from Mustard Tigers. Richy Rich rushed most of the game and got 2 sacks, but at one point needed a breather and switched spots with Alex and Rich got a pick.

Division 4

Airborne vs Super Friends (2-33)

This game was all one sided and if it wasn’t for Greg getting a safety Airborne would have been shutout. Hasan had the best day I’ve seen from him ever getting 8 catches for 81 yards. Whenever Guillaume needed a play Hasan was his guy. Super Friends were very consistent this week. Oliver never forced anything, Alex scored 3 times on 10 catches and Elis led them in yards with 83 and had a pick 6 as well. Alex made a beautiful 1 handed pick that Guillaume wasn’t happy about since his receiver just watched it happen and didn’t fight for the ball.

Division 5

Los Pollitos vs Jungle Squad (20-13)

The first half of the game, Jungle Squad owned it and looked like they might run away with it. Jerome has come a long way since week 1, he is making better reads and has better play calls and just seems more confident. Michel is still the guy for Jungle Squad, but now everyone is contributing. Los Pollitos won the game having 4 total completions. Sam is a beast and won the game almost by himself. Los Pollitos have a few other players that can play, but they need to get everyone involved. Los Pollitos won the game on a pick 6 halfway through the second half.

That’s all I have for you this week, but if you’re looking for more wait until Wednesday for Terry, Willie, and maybe Jaf on the podcast this week.

Studs & Duds

It’s that time of the week where everyone gets to see if they balled out enough to make my list or how badly you failed and got put on the bad list.

Studs

Division 1

- Meïs Ngarane 2 catches for 723 yards and 2 TDs on offense, then on defense he made 3 tackles and had 1 pick.

Division 2

- Craig O’Brien went 26 of 32 for 262 yards, 7 TDs and 2 1point converts.

Division 3

- Félix Gérin-Lajoie went 16 of 27 for 197 yards, 5 TDs and 2 1point converts. Felix also ran 7 times for 30 yards. On defense he made 2 tackles which were both sacks and had a pick as well.

Division 4

- Diego Castro Arellano was 15 of 17 for 163 yards, 4 TDs and 1 2point convert. Diego also ran 6 times for 69 yards and a 2point convert, he also made 3 tackles and had a pick on defense.

Division 5

- Max Rosenfeld had 4 catches for 61 yards and 3 TDs. Max also made 2 tackles and had 2 picks.

Duds

Division 1

- Kris Hope for false rumors about him no longer playing this season and that not even lasting 1 week.

Division 2

- Spritz Gang and Marvel for both not showing up and bringing their A game with a chance at playoffs on the line.

Division 3

-  Jason Armenti for scoring 20 points under his team’s average and then there are his 3 picks on top of that.

Division 4

- Alexandre Szalipszki 6 picks thrown.

Division 5

- Improbables offense minus Alex. You need more than your center to contribute if you plan on making a deep playoff run.

That who I came up with for this week. I had a few other picks in mind but decided that these people were the true winners and losers of week 10.
